All is well

Sorry for such a gap in writing in this blog. All is well with our kids and after a generous donations by Clicksco we had all our kids back for the school year 2015/2016.

Isabel has been wonderful and we are very grateful for her help in Ethiopia.

The school year 2016/2017 starts end of September which reminds me I should send Clicksco a Happy Summer note lol They are fantastic !! And these kids are extremely blessed and lucky. Inshallah we will keep going until they graduate. This is my biggest wish !! If "some" graduate it will make my day :)

Happy Summer to you too !!

Thanks to Clicksco's donation we survived one more school year 2014/2015. The school year 2015/2016 has started and we had to make a few decisions. The kids that did not present their report cards we taken out of the group, so we have now 17 kids (highlighted in the chart).  Let's hope these will be with us for the next years, until they graduate Inshallah !!!

We NEED your donation NOW !!

2015 started in a tough way... Beginning of January we received the news that the donation we expected was not coming. Camila,  our friend and supported set up a donation site Donate to Mekdela Kids Ethiopia  but we have not reached the amount we need to keep our 26 kids fed until the end of 2015 school year

So we are faced with the hard decision to downsize our group. We have money for one more month for all the kids, and after that we must make choices. How to choose the kids that will stay? By grades? By beauty? By level of poverty? How do we know we are not killing the chance of a bright future, if they could all surprise us with a bright future?

If we go by grades these are the kids that would remain receiving U$25 a month to pay for their breakfast and lunch on weekdays at school.

Kelem 69
Hiwot 69

Abeba 66,8
Abdi Tofik 65,4

All our kids come from very low or zero income families, and I know how much the lack of financial aid will impact in their hard lives.

We need your help now. Please donate !! http://www.gofundme.com/k1ucg4

On the left, Isabel, our dear friend that hands the money to the kids, makes sure they are going to school. They meet at night, once a month and the parents come along. Our biggest dream is to send them to University. All of them :)

They are all so big now.... When we first started they were small little kids...

2014-2015 School Year !

Just a quick note to let you know that once again Clicksco has made a substantial donation to our kids. Thank you very much Clicksco !!! You have been wonderful to our kids :) We have a new friend taking care of our kids in Addis Ababa. Isabel Soares will be from now on our contact with the kids and will handle all the finances on that side of the world. Our special thanks to Camila and Mohsen who have been wonderful helping us for the past years.

English Classes & Bye Bye Dear Kids !!

Yesssssss We ve got an English Teacher !!! He works at Mekdela and seems to be a good person. He has email so we should be able to get results from the kids.

I wrote personal messages for each student on their dictionaries. Hope they will be able to understand what I wrote sometime soon hehe

I was very happy to find these books, I used them in Brazil, and they are the best !!

It was very cute the way they showed us their expenses, very organized and neat.

This is an estimate, we will have enough money for the whole school year :)

Time to say bye bye. It was a great visit, and I was truly happy to see my babies...

Meeting the Parents

To be honest I don't know their names, hard enough to learn 26 kids names hehe But I do know their faces, and their smiles, and their struggle.

Thank you Clicksco !!

Dear Clicksco Team ! It is the second year you help our kids. It is the second year since I started helping them that I have peace of mind... I feel safe. I feel they are safe. And I must tell you that I put in trouble !!! I am brainwashing them to go to University !!! And I also promised that they will get a good watch, not chinese.., when they graduate haha There is no way I can afford that, so hang in there guys, we need you for another 10-12 years :) Thank you. You have been wonderful, we will all go to their graduation, and then I might finally meet my rival... Steve !!! You are very much loved by all the kids. They all asked about you, and they saw you playing for Tottenham not long ago, oh yes, they saw your name on the t-shirt. They complimented your good taste for music!! The only little problem is that the ball you bought them was not very good :) I fixed it mate, got them a U$8 soccer ball. They want to play soccer after Saturday English classes ! So we all have a date in Ethiopia, Wendy, Steve, Mohsen, Camila... Graduation Party :))

Clicksco thank you for the burgers, thank you for the ball, the uniforms and shoes. Thank you for keeping this big dream alive !! Thank you for believing these kids can change lives around them.

It is very rare that Marcos smiles for pictures... Shy....

Nhameeeeeeeeeeeeee They loved it !!! It was a beautiful gathering :)
